This mystery is already at work and it manifests in different ways. Remember that because it is a mystery, it cannot be immediately recognized. That means it is not easily seen or noticed. Its “interwovenness” with the common things of life makes it all the more elusive (difficult to pin down). A mind that is given solely to secular thinking, without a spiritual altar of dedication to God that regulates understanding, will be blind to the constant tricks of the adversary, and process all things in the physical world as mere chance happenings or what the more educated will call, “matter”

Tough times coming upon the elect

In these last days, there is going to be an increased, almost “unexplainable” hatred against those who do not hide their spiritual identity, as God’s covenant people; and the bone of contention is simply Christ. In the story in Exodus 5, we have the Pharaoh, King of Egypt, refusing to allow the Israelites to go and worship God in the wilderness.

“And afterward Moses and Aaron went in, and told Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wildernessAnd Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.” Exodus 5:1-2

Moses came to Pharaoh with a message from the LORD. “Let my people go, that they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness” With this, we see a parallel to what will be happening in these end times. God wanted to take His people out of Egypt, to catch them away (rapture), if you like, but Pharaoh refused. He said, “Who is the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD“. If you look beyond the face value of those words, you will see that it was actually a reaction from the devil himself. Since the first rebellion, he has been an opposer of God’s agenda on earth, especially as it concerns His people. That is why he is called the adversary.

“And Pharaoh commanded the same day the taskmasters of the people, and their officers, saying, Ye shall no more give the people straw to make brick, as heretofore: let them go and gather straw for themselves. Let there more work be laid upon the men, that they may labour therein; and let them not regard vain words.” Exodus 5:6-7, 9

An offer to trade holy for the “unholy”

Rather than releasing them to go and worship their God, pharaoh made the work of the people unbearable. The government normally supplied straw for them to make bricks but he instructed his men to stop the supplies, and to allow them to gather straws themselves, without reducing their daily work targets. Pharaoh, here, is showing us how the mystery of iniquity will work (or is working) in our time. He calls the request to go and worship God, “regarding vain words” (please check verse 9).

First, it means that those who are serious about following Jesus will come into very tough situations at their workplaces and in the society. Personal devotion to Jesus will be ridiculed as laziness. Spending time to pray and to study the Word of God will become very difficult because there are satanic forces on a mission to make you “reasonably” use your time for every other thing, like sitting before the TV, doing office work at home, and chatting with friends on your smart phone, which may not be wrong in themselves, but are stealthily and very smartly reducing your love commitments to the LORD.

So we see that the Israelites came under an unimaginable pressure, which we can liken to the tribulation we see our LORD Jesus speaking about in Matthew 24, of which He said they are merely “the beginning of sorrows” (verse 8). Perhaps, the little time they had for God before will now be wasted on looking for straw and then finishing their tasks for the day. This was a very unsettling experience for God’s people. The LORD wanted them out of Egypt to the wilderness to worship Him and make a feast unto Him, but Pharaoh stood in the way. [We could see the wilderness as the midpoint or halfway between Egypt (the world) and Canaan (Heaven or New Jerusalem)]. The mystery of iniquity, so to say, was at work. And it was determined to keep them in Egypt.

Losing sight of eternal things

The heads of the men of Israel met Moses and Aaron on their way out, after losing their appeal to Pharaoh to restore the former work conditions, and they said, “The LORD has seen what you have done and will punish you for making the king and his officers hate us. You have given them an excuse to kill us.” Exodus 5:21 (GNB).

Which means, the suffering or tribulation that was coming upon them is changing the way they reason to the point that they lost the vision of leaving Egypt to go and be joined to the LORD their God. The pressures of keeping themselves afloat in Egypt is now veiling their vision for oneness with their God. That is exactly the goal of the lawless one, who is spreading the mystery of lawlessness across the nations: to make the pressures of keeping oneself afloat in this world a task that knocks off the heavenly vision from one’s mind and makes the contemplation of eternal things an impossibility.

“For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.”

The secret power of evil is already working in the world now. But there is one who is stopping that secret power of evil. And he will continue to stop it until he is taken out of the way.” Easy-to-Read Version

“The mystery of this sin is already at work. But it cannot work effectively until the person now holding it back gets out of the way.”  God’s Word

2 Thessalonians 2:7

God always has a remnant

The goal of this secret power of evil is to make you lose your first love for Jesus (Matthew 24:12), to make you drop out of the faith (Matthew 24:24) and to make you cast off the hope of eternal life (Titus 3:7) as a vague thing. When there is a compromise of these three (love, faith and hope), apostasy must set in (Hebrews 6:4-6). No matter how many people may compromise, God always have His overcomers’ company, the 7000 who have not bowed their knees to baal, who are, by the grace of God, restraining, holding back and stopping the mystery of iniquity from coming to a point where the man of sin himself, the antichrist will be revealed.

“Yet I have left me seven thousand in Israel, all the knees which have not bowed unto Baal, and every mouth which hath not kissed him.” 1 Kings 19:18

Which means the level of iniquity will keep increasing such that there will be trying times for God’s people (both the church and Israel). Paul was teaching the new disciples “Confirming…and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.” (Acts 14:22). That is, it is taken for granted that you should know, if you have been a Christian for any length of time, that there will be difficult times.

The love of your self is the fuel for the mystery of iniquity

In Paul’s first letter to Timothy, this times are called perilous times (3:1), when men will become “…lovers of their own selves…” (3:2) and because self is given free reign, it will open up new levels of wickedness (3:2-4). And even among church people and the very religious, these wickedness will be camouflaged with a deceptive godliness that nullifies the power of the cross (3:5). This is the reason why in the church today so many people are “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (3:7).

And we have this category of people “growing” in hierarchy in the churches today, which has led to a sharp increase in sexual compromises/abuses among both the married and unmarried. For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts” (3:6). Especially, the luring of vulnerable well-to-do (middle-aged) women into the sexual captivity of a wicked, immoral leader, whose eyes are full of adulteries. “Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices…” 2 Peter 2:14

Destroying the veil…

This veil is the presence of iniquity. Iniquity is lawlessness. This is when sin is indulged in, because of a false understanding of grace, until it becomes a settled, unashamed way of life. Wherever this is present, like Achan stealing the accursed thing (something of Babylon) in Joshua 7, the LORD will withdraw His presence, and will allow His people to suffer a defeat by the powers of darkness. This becomes a veil that divides God and His people.

It is this general rise in iniquity in the world system that is now flooding churches creating a veil that must be broken by faithful men and women (in prayer) for the Word of God to penetrate the hearts of men and to deliver them from their natural capacities or tendencies for hypocrisy.

“And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.” Isaiah 25:7

Indeed, the LORD will not disclose to anyone the actual day or time of the gathering of the saints to Himself, but He has revealed what the prevailing conditions upon the face of the earth will be prior to His appearing.

“For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.”

Matthew 24:21-22, 29-31

The mystery of iniquity will eventually reach a climax that will release the antichrist. It is the faithfulness of God’s Overcomers’ company that is denying the measure of iniquity to reach the proper zenith that will activate the antichrist. This is the time for you to check and be sure you are on the LORD’s side.

Majority of “Christians” don’t know that they are not a threat to the devil at all that is why they don’t feel sorry for their sins; and because of this, they have begun to create new doctrines to accommodate their sinfulness, not knowing that it is the secret work of iniquity determined upon those who choose to be deceived, to keep them thinking they are “born again” until they have lost their souls to the enemy. Sin works secretly first, and it takes its time to spread into the fabrics of your inner man, before it makes you bold enough to express it publicly. This is the mystery of iniquity.

If you are winning the secret battle with sin in your private life, then you are a pain in the devil’s neck. You are one of the reasons why the antichrist cannot yet manifest. You may not be known by men, but you are known in heaven and hell. Heaven rejoices over you, while hell groans. May you keep the testimony of Jesus Christ like the saints of old.

If you are failing to stand erect to denounce sin, and all the subtle manifestations of self in your life, then you must go to the throne of Grace now and ask the LORD for mercy. You only need to believe that Jesus did not primarily come to heal people and work miracles, He actually came to save you from your sins (Matthew 1:21). Praying with that belief in your heart will dismantle the sin apparatus in your life and you will experience the Grace and Truth that is in Christ Jesus (John 1:14).

Let us pray together:

LORD Jesus, thank you for your mercies. Please save me from all my private compromises. I don’t want my life to add to the iniquity that is growing in this last days. I want my life to actually hinder it. Make me an overcomer. Give me ears that hears what the Spirit is saying to the churches (Revelations 2:7). Come O LORD and become eternally One with your bride. Thank you LORD. In Jesus’ name. AMEN.

If you have not given your life to Jesus before, please pray here:

LORD Jesus, thank you for coming in the flesh to settle once and for all the matter of man’s separation from God. I am sorry for my life of sin. Please forgive me and separate me unto Yourself, permanently away from sin. I believe that you are the Son of God and your death and resurrection have set me free from sin. From today, I am a New Creation in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:17). Thank you LORD. In Jesus’ name. AMEN

  1. The mystery of this site seems that it looks very confusing, giving the reader the impression that Jesus might be god, though Jesus is the son of God and the sent one from God, a son of man and not a god son.

    1. John 1:1,14 KJV
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

      1. The opening of John gospels refers to the genesis of the old world system (old covenant world) and the new world or new creation (New Covenant world) and speaks about the Word of God which is the result of the Speaking of the God. The promise made in the Gardenof Eden became a reality and as such when the saviour Jeshua (Jesus) was born the Word spoken by the God above all gods became a reality and came into the flesh. It was not God Who came into the flesh but it was His Word spoken the promise which people could now look forward to and could come to see. (Remember man can not see God and live, but many saw Jesus.)
You even seem to miss what you quote yourself “the only begotten of the Father”. Jesus next to the first Adam created Himself the second Adam, by taking care that the young girl Miriam (Mary/Maria) became pregnant without human intercourse.

      2. Glad you responded! First of all, let me say that God is not an author of confusion (1 Corinthians 14:33). Secondly, how we read the Scriptures is very important because it determines what we “understand” out of it.

        Luke 10:25-26 KJV

“And, behold, a certain lawyer stood up, and tempted him, saying, Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? [26] He said unto him, What is written in the law? how readest thou?”

It was a “good” question but the Holy Spirit already exposed him in that passage. In his heart, he was tempting Jesus. Jesus simply asked two questions: “What is written…? and ” how do you read it?”. Those are the two questions that determine how we understand the Bible. While many do know what is written, the “how” of reading is the determinant of true/correct understanding. “How” speaks of the heart condition, the motives, prejudices and settled ideas of the person reading. This second question is what seperates the “intelligent bible scholar” from the “obedient bible scholar”.

When we read it without any personal or denominational bias, and by comparing scriptures with scriptures, we will arrive at the whole counsel (full thought) of God. But if we read only some parts of the bible and use cultic bible translations, we will certainly get a doctrine we want, which is not the word of God.

On the issues you have raised concerning the deity of Jesus Christ, the Word of God is sufficiently clear about it.

Let’s read the book of Hebrews 1 (you can even read the entire chapter:

        Hebrews 1:5,8 KJV

For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? [8] But unto the Son he saith , Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

In verse 8, the Father says to the Son, “…Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever…”. In the entire Scriptures, it is VERY clear that Jesus Christ is God; as long as scriptures are compared with scriptures, and we don’t misunderstand words.

The word “begotten” will be properly understood if you take time to compare the use of it in John 1:14 and Hebrews 1:5. The question is “How do you beget someone who already existed and is uncreated?” That means the use of that word is not literal according to our own cultural and universal understanding of it. He is not giving birth to what was not already existing. To beget here is to basically declare Him His Son, not that He was literally born.

This may bring to mind another implication of the “Word” you gave, according to John 1:1,14. The Word is the Son of God because God declared Him so. Please bear in mind that it is only humans who need to go through the process of birthing to produce a child. It is in much the same way that we also become sons of God when we repent of our sins. That’s why He is called the Firstborn among many brethren (Romans 8:29). And that’s why He is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).

Also as you may know, the original languages used in Scriptures, Hebrews, Greek and Aramaic, have words that have multiple meanings, which means the meaning of a word used is not just the literal meaning of that word, but the intended meaning of the Holy Spirit, who inspired (breathed) the Scriptures. For instance the Hebrew word “yada” means “to know” but the same word is used to describe the conjugal relationship between married people. The context of a passage will easily reveal the right and divinely intended meaning of a word.

The same thing goes for Logos (Word) and Monogenes (begotten). While logos definitely means speech or speaking, as you said, in the context of the Scripture, the Word is a Person (Christ). In the beginning was the Word (a stated fact and reality, much like Genesis 1:1, without giving any explanation on how that should be the case). The Word was with God (this is showing relationship and unity). The Word was God (which means, the Son and the Father are One and they are God.

        Genesis 1:26 KJV

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…”

        1 John 5:7 KJV

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

        Hebrews 1:8-12 KJV

But unto the Son he saith , Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. [9] Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. [10] And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands: [11] They shall perish; but thou remainest; and they all shall wax old as doth a garment; [12] And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

Let’s remember a basic principle: “anything that has a beginning must be subject to change.” Verses 11 and 13 here shows that Jesus will never change because He already existed & was uncreated in the beginning and He created Heaven and earth.

      3. Weird you seem to know God is a God of order and not a God of confusion. Hopefully you know that He also does not tell lies. Normally you as a Christian should know that. Strangely enough you do seem to neglect the simple comprehensible Words of God as well as the words of Jesus, who was declared the son of God by The Almighty God Himself. It also looks more that you are reading the Bible with human doctrinal bias, and not me who takes the words like they are written – this for my own belief as well as when I am working for the Bible translation committees, be them trinitarian io unitarian Christians or Jeshuaists or Jews. I am very conscious of my responsibility at those incredible important tasks. But I am also very aware that each individual has his or her own responsibility before God concerning his or her faith. Therefore I prefer to keep to the words of God instead of the words of men.

Your reply makes it very clear that you seem to mix the Biblical characters and often does not seem to see or understand who is talking about whom. You also seem to forget that god is a title and not a name and that angels, Moses, Pharaoh, Baal, Zeus, Apollo where also called god, but like any other present and past gods are not The God.

Concerning begotten, please come to read the many articles written on that subject, which you again also seem to misunderstand and also not understanding why Jesus is also called the second Adam.

You accuse me not to understand certain biblical matters because of my upbringing/culture, though I do not know where you would know me from or would even know my background. … So how do you know my own cultural and universal understanding?

You also try to have me to believe Logos means a person, though you should know it mean sword

      4. sorry… clicked on reply, on my i-pad.

continuing: logos stands for word, which is the result of speaking or writing. In John’s instance the speaking of God.

From your remark it looks also that you do not understand in what way the youngest apostle wanted to write his gospel and how he saw in his rebbe the second Adam and the firstborn of the new creation.

  2. Olamide you say your god is not an author of confusion and give as quote (1 Corinthians 14:33) but when I look at your god he is totally confusing and even worse misleading people. Your god says he cannot be seen by human beings and that he is an eternal all knowing being that does not tell lies. Though your god says about Jesus that he is his son. Further can we read in God His word that Jesus is His sent one. When we look at Jesus according to your books and our books he himself says Allah/God is greater than him. He too says he is the sent one from God. Though when he is God, as you claim, why does not he nor his heavenly Father say so? Your god seems also to lie on many occasions. Your so called all-knowing god does not know what happened with Lazarus, does not know who would be seated next to him and even does tell that he does not know when he would be coming back to earth. Would you not call that lying? when he as God knows everything he clearly does not tell the truth and worse keeps very important information behind.
According to the Holy Scriptures Allah is an all-knowing eternal God, meaning He has no beginning (no birth) and no end (cannot die). Allah is a God of order and not a God of confusing as well as a God of Truth. Your three-headed god seems to mislead people on many occasions.
When He is Jesus why does He not say so? Why does He say He authorised Jesus to speak in His name? Why is then written in your books that Jesus is seated next to God and is not written that Jesus went back to heaven to take his place in again?
How can Jesus to be a mediator between God and man in case he is himself God? How too can he be a high-priest for God when he himself is God?
Are all such sayings in your books to be neglected and not words from God then? Why did God not correct them than?
Clearly people should know that Allah is the Most High God above all gods and Ishi (Jesus) clearly told the people around him that Allah is greater than him and that he ((Jesus) cannot do anything without his God.

  3. Thank you for your comment.

I try to avoid entering into argument with people on what they believe versus what I believe. Intellectually, it is a needless argument because both sides see things from their points of view and through the lens of many years of interacting with a specific body of knowledge.

If you read my second response to Marcus, you will see some, if not all, of your questions answered there. The Word of God clearly answers your question but I will not attempt to present it to you for the reasons stated above, except that I will ask you to consider the following thoughts:

    1. God does not seek to explain Himself it is we humans that try to explain His existence. Too many people trying to explain God will lead to many versions of God, with a lot of contradictions, cultural/traditional injections of ideas and even imaginative speculations. However, God’s Word tells us coherently and consistently the Truth about His nature.

    2. God does not expect anybody to understand His nature that has not realized his sinfulness and a need for a Savour. Even if a person knows the Bible without being saved, he can only deal with it intellectually, leaving his soul lean and unsaved. God’s Word is not for intellectual excitement, nourishment or argument but for spiritual transformation.

    2 Corinthians 3:6 KJV
“…for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.”

Let me say this with all sense of responsibility: If you don’t believe in the Word of God, then your first need is NOT an understanding of the nature of God but the urgent salvation of your soul.

    Deuteronomy 29:29 KJV
The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.

God has no obligation to reveal His Word to you if you are not yet saved from sin and if He is not yet your God. Even if such revelation is explained to you, it really doesn’t benefit you until you are born again.

    3. God’s Word is primarily a revelation and not a reasoning (debates/disputes) of men.

    1 Corinthians 3:19-20 KJV
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. [20] And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.”

    1 Corinthians 2:14 KJV
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them , because they are spiritually discerned.”

This is why I will not enter into debates with you. I pray that God will reveal Himself to you. I thank you and Marcus for your discussion with me on this blog.
